Gathering Place Community Centre was the first place for me to further reach out to the Community.
On February 12, BC Family Day, it was my first time to teach a two hour workshop at your centre. I saw many people who were in need there. During the workshop, we chatted and they shared a bit their lives. Some of them were homeless and seniors. I was so glad to hold a Chinese calligraphy workshop for them. The workshop provided them the opportunity to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
I believe in ‘Art Can Heal’. Making art is good for our brains. All forms of arts could bring us the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual benefits. To be an adventurous artist is my dream. Sharing my passions for the arts to help the people in need is the greatest value of my mission.
Operated by the City of Vancouver since 1995 in partnership with BC Housing and the Vancouver School Board, the Gathering Place is a safe, social place for everyone in the community including seniors, people with disabilities, people on low income, youth and people who are homeless. The Centre is a place to build community and create positive change. It provides accessible services and enables people to participate in programs that support their health and well being.
